Privacy Policy

EasyCaption does not collect, sell or share your personal data. The app has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.

Speech and microphone

Transcription happens entirely on your iPhone or iPad using Apple speech recognition. The microphone is used only after you tap “Transcribe”. Audio is used only for live recognition. It is never saved, and it is never sent to the developer or any third party.

The first time you use a language, iOS may download recognition resources for that language from Apple. This download is handled by the system and contains no audio or text from your conversations.

Conversations, phrases and settings

Your conversations, drafts, saved phrases and settings are stored on your device, protected by the system’s file protection, and excluded from device backups. You can delete conversations at any time in the app’s Conversation history. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.

iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. If you turn it on, your conversations, phrases and settings are stored in your own private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can access. The developer cannot read this data. Conversation text is stored in encrypted fields.

Turning sync off does not delete data from iCloud. You can delete it in Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage.

Read aloud

Read aloud happens entirely on your device. English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese use natural voices built into the app (you can turn them off in Settings to use Apple voices instead); Mandarin and Cantonese use the system’s default Apple voice. The text does not leave your device.

Feedback email

If you choose to send feedback from the app, your email includes the app version, system version, device model and interface language. It never includes conversation content. We use this information only to reply to you and to improve the app.

Beta testing (TestFlight)

If you join the public beta, you install EasyCaption through Apple’s TestFlight app. Apple provides us with the information described in its TestFlight terms, such as crash reports, device and system details, install and session counts, and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send. The app itself collects nothing more during the beta. Apple handles this data under its own privacy policy.

Permissions

• Microphone: used only for transcription after you tap “Transcribe”.
• The app does not use your location, contacts, photos or camera.

Children

The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

This website

This website is hosted by Squarespace, which may use cookies and collect basic visit statistics under its own privacy policy. We do not use this website to collect personal data.
